OUR COMMITMENT: To help the helpless help themselvesWe partner with and/or work in association and/or support several charitable organizations, Non Profit Organisations (NPOs) and Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) by providing courses and skills development for the poor and unemployed. We run two or three outreaches per month in the poorest of the poor communities. We receive letters and requests from community leaders and social services representatives highlighting the plight of communities that live in abject poverty. We go out with one or two bus loads of volunteers from church youth groups such as Finishing Strong, Urban Oak (Rhema), All Stars (Little Falls), WesBank volunteers club and others who help us to bless the poor. All our distributions are undertaken by volunteers and are personally monitored by representatives of 1in1out to ensure that our contributions are given to the recipients that have the most need. We distribute clothing, books, biscuits, grocery hampers and also provide cooked meals. We are thankful to you our sponsors that make this possible. In the words of Mother Theresa: "There is much suffering in the world - physical, material, mental. The suffering of some can be blamed on the greed of others. The material and physical suffering is suffering from hunger, from homelessness, from all kinds of diseases. But the greatest suffering is being lonely, feeling unloved, having no one. I have come more and more to realize that it is being unwanted that is the worst disease that any human being can ever experience. Open your eyes and see. There is not just hunger for bread; there is hunger for understanding and love, for the Word of God. Nakedness is not only for a piece of cloth, but nakedness is a loss of that dignity, human dignity: the loss for what is beautiful, what is pure, what is chaste, what is virgin. Loss. Homelessness is not only for a house made of bricks - homelessness is being that people are completely forgotten, rejected, left alone, as if they are nobody to nobody." Yes we do require money because money buys food for the hungry and clothes for the naked but let us not be satisfied with just giving money. Money is not enough, for money can be obtained. We would like more people to serve with their time and their hearts – to recognize the poor in their own home, towns and to reach out to them, in love and compassion, giving where it is most needed and sharing the joy of loving with everyone in need. Come and experience the joy of serving and see how it will transform your life when you become a giver. If you are humble nothing will touch you. If you are a saint, thank God. If you are a sinner do not remain so. Do something. Find out how you can join in our fight against poverty and crime. YOU MUST GET INVOLVED! |
